Meet Rev. Dr. Barbara Waterhouse and Rev. Dr. John B. Waterhouse – Founding Ministers of CSL Asheville
Center for Spiritual Living began in the Waterhouse living room in a tiny farmhouse in Fairview NC. On that cold but sunny day in January 1995 Barbara and John opened their home and their hearts to bring Science of Mind teachings to all those who were seeking.
Every Sunday 30 chairs squeezed into their living room and before long we moved into a converted trailer that was also on the farm property. This become known as “cornfield.” From the cornfield grew a community like no other.
“One of my greatest passions is to reach out and touch the hearts and lives of people who are seeking to find a better way of living. I hold myself up as a woman of power who has overcome significant obstacles to create a full and meaningful life. And with confidence, I tell all who care to know that they can do the same for themselves.” – Barbara Waterhouse
Quickly that small trailer nestled into the cornfield proved too small so in 2000 the current day CSL Asheville was built, a ten thousand square foot teaching facility on a 6-acre site that was designed and built largely with the support of volunteer help from friends and members of the Center.

The Four Pillars of Life with Rev. Dr. John Waterhouse
John shares a broad range of ideas on how to live a balanced life through deeper understanding of our health, wealth, relationships and self-expression. When we balance these four pillars, we can significantly improve the focus and functioning of our lives.

The Original 1926 Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes
No one has ever seen Mind or Spirit, but who could possibly doubt their existence? Nothing is more self- evident than that we live; and since we live, we must have life; yet who has ever seen this life? The only proof of life we have is that we live; and the only proof we have of Mind is that we can think; so we are perfectly justified in believing that we have a mind and that we live.
